USA coast to coast day 1 LA to Moreno Valley









 First day 136 KM, 892 M climbing, 6 hours 10 minutes 

Perfect weather for our first day. A group of 22 of us Left the hotel at 7:30 for 5 mile walk ride to Manhattan Beach pier.  A number of friends and relatives to see us off and after dipping my back wheel in the ocean I was off on my ride of a lifetime.  The scenery riding through the suburbs of LA was fairly non describt and the ride was punctuated by traffic lights every few hundred meters.  After about 40 miles I left the road for a scenic ride along the Santa Ana river trail and starting the see hills and mountains in the distance 

The day ended with a 3 mile climb that was not too onerous and then to the hotel after an interesting first day which got us out of the city and now towards the desert.

There were about 30 friends and family to greet us at the finish. It was amazing that everyone who started finished the ride. USA coast to coast stage 41 Troy NY to Battleboro VT

 128KM, 1,727M climbed, 5 hours 49 minutes  Total 5,373KM, 32,183M climbed, 218 hours 47 minutes  A big climbing day today and we also crossed into our 13th different state Vermont. We started climbing from the off with a 3 mile climb just outside of Troy which split the group up and due to the climbing I found myself on my own for most of the ride.   As we entered Vermont most of the rest of the ride was in the Green Mountain National Park which meant stunning scenery of trees, hills and fast flowing rivers. The next climb was an 8 mile ascent up the Prospect Mountain and then a great descent with smooth sweeping roads.  After another small climb I descended at speeds hitting 48MPH. USA coast to coast stage 42 Battleboro VT to Burlington MA

 146KM, 1,584M climbing, 6 hours 17 minutes  Total 5,519KM, 33,767M climbed, 225 hours 4 minutes  A long penultimate day’s riding that took us through 3 states Vermont, New Hampshire and into Burlington Massachusetts which is a suburb of Boston. The day started overcast but soon developed into a beautiful June day in New England  For me this was actually the best days riding of the whole trip.  The New England scenery is stunning and there are some wonderful houses.  The day was spent riding past lakes, rivers, woods, tree lined roads, ponds and the weather was perfect.  There were some great climbs and descents although nothing as long as the previous day. We had a great celebratory meal at our final hotel as we only had 17 miles ride to the beach left the next day Amazingly all the starters completed the ride and nearly two thirds of us cycled EFI (Every F%#*+ Inch) https://www.relive.cc/view/v1OwG9BJ3XO
